introducing acts of love
As a maker I sometimes forget to make ánd consume for fun. There are days where I manage to take a walk in the park and be moved by a song. There are days where I do those things that make me feel alive: having a good conversation with a friend, reading a chapter of a beautiful book or listen to an interesting podcast.
In the previous years I’ve managed to fill in my professional life the way I desired it to be. I get to work with great partners and companies. I’ve built several brands and learned a thing or two about the industry where my heart lays. One of those things is the knowledge that there are some unhealthy structures that can sneak up into you if you don’t pay attention.
Working with big brands and getting recognition of your work and the value of it is very important. Especially for us women (of color). I encourage everyone to go where the money and the funds are. I’m always down to guide you through it by sharing my own professional journey.
But in addition to all things professional I, myself, feel the need to make and share ‘free work’ again. With that phrase I mean that I want to make time for creating things just for the art. That I make what I want to consume. To share what makes me feel so happy or moved will contribute to me honoring my destiny more than anything else.
In Acts of love I will share everything that I feel passionate about.
This is for all of us who sing in their kitchens only, who cut their family members hairs better than the fancy hairdressers in the city, the ones who draw in the attic room and threw their drawings in the garbage cain afterwards, the family photographers who never get that real recognition.
I love you for making art because of the art. Let’s share.
With love,
Suheyla
